The Boat
A boat is a small, made thing floating on something enormous. People log it often, sometimes on its own and sometimes right next to the ocean.
What Jung wrote
In Symbols of Transformation Jung draws on the ethnologist Leo Frobenius and his idea of the night sea journey: the hero carried across or under the sea in darkness, inside a vessel or a whale, who comes out reborn on the far side. The boat is the container that makes the crossing possible.
Jung also read the ship and the ark as vessels that hold and protect, close in meaning to the womb, and he linked them with the mother. In this reading a boat is less about where it goes than about what it carries through the deep.

What we don’t do
We won’t tell you what your boat means. Jung himself distrusted fixed dream dictionaries and held that a symbol can only be read in the life of the person who dreams it. Archetype Matrix only counts: who logged the same image, where, and in what mood.
